Week 56 in Chihuahua - December 31, 2018 - Happy New Year!!

Yo whats up everyone!!!! Happy New Year!! It's been a good week.

We baptized a kid named Diego. His family is less active but have been coming to church because we had been teaching them and Diego for his baptism. It's a really funny family. They have a bunch of kids and always when we go over to their house it is just chaos. So many kids and friends just screaming and doing whatever they want running all over the place.

I have always thought that 4 is a good number of kids to have but after being with them it makes me feel like more that 1 will be overwhelming haha.  I remember Diego was playing a game in their kitchen called Quitate rapido ( go away fast), and it's where one person gets on a scooter and rides down the hallway really fast and someone else is in the middle of the hallway and the person in the middle of the hallway has to wait for as long as possible in the middle without getting ran over and at the last second they jump out of the way.  While they were playing Diego hit the family dog like 3 times!

This week has been good and I'm enjoying the mission work more than I think I ever have because we are just looking for people that will accept the gospel and it is really exciting to me.

I'm trying so hard to finish the Book of Mormon today.  I read 50 pages in the morning. I just have to read like 150 more tonight to be able to finish haha. I love the Book of Mormon. It's so true. It's got all the answers.

That's all I got for this week!  Love you all!

Week 54 in Chihuahua - December 17, 2018 - Marcelino's Baptism

Well it happened!  Marcelino was baptized this Saturday.  He is so happy!! Also, he has some family members that now want to get baptized too.  They came to church and to his baptism.  It is his daughter, his granddaughter and his great granddaughter.  The girls came to church the other day and a primary lady snatched them up and took them to primary and the girls sang the primary songs and read a little part in front of the primary group on their first day at church and loved every minute of it.

Our mission made a fun video this week.  It is in Spanish, but in the video we are telling a young man about what serving a mission is like.  He has different ideas about what the mission is, so we have to set him straight.  In the end, he wants to serve one too.

(Jacob is in the beginning of the video and then again at the end.  It is so fun to see him in a video and not just pictures!)

We don't know about our Skype times yet for Christmas, but we will by next Monday!

Our mission president is such a great guy!  He really loves the missionaries and the Christmas dinner at his home last week was awesome!

Below are some pictures of Marcelino's baptism!  He isn't smiling much in them but he is super happy!

Week 53 in Chihuahua - December 10, 2018 - I Sure Am Coming

Hello family and friends!

I hope everyone is well over there because all is well over here.

Marcelino is going to get baptized this Saturday!!!!!!!!! I love him so much, he is amazing. He loves church so much and he is so willing to do everything God asks him to do.

Funny story. We were at church and a dude came up to Marcelino and was like hey are you still going to come this Saturday and Marcelino said,  "I sure am coming!" and then like 5 seconds later Marcelino looked at us and said, "Is there a meeting or something this Saturday?" haha
He had forgotten that there is an activity this Saturday, but he said he would come before even knowing all the details.

It will be way fun! He'll get baptized then we will go straight to the activity.  We have a Christmas dinner tomorrow with our mission President and I'm really looking forward to it.

We also are teaching a girl named Michelle. Her mom is less active so Michelle takes the bus by herself to get to church and she's only 12. Hopefully we can baptize her this Saturday as well if all goes to plan. That's all I got.

I love you all!

Week 52 in Chihuahua - December 3, 2018 - Marcelino

Whats up everyone!!!!  Merry Christmas!! It really is the best time of the year... I was hoping for some snow over here but today it was like 88 degrees outside hahaha.

Life is pretty good over here.... we found the coolest investigator, his name is Marcelino. I had contacted him a super long time ago and we went to his house 2 times and he wasn't home.

We were waiting for the bus that was close to his house when I felt the impression to knock again so we went and his granddaughter came out and said he wasn't home again....I was like ugggghhh.. then the little girl's mom came out and I explained to her that we were missionaries and that we were looking for Marcelino and I asked when we should come by to find him and she said that he's home right now and she told the girl to go get him.

That means the girl was lying to us and maybe she lied the other two times that we went by..... why would she lie??? She was like 6... do I look scary or something?! lol.

Anyway we went in and taught him and he loved everything and went to church. After the first hour of church he looked at me and said, "Church is every Sunday at 11 right?? Because I'm gonna come every Sunday!"  He absolutely loved it and stayed for all 3 hours.  He seemed sooo comfortable in the church with the members. He's going be a great member! He's 80 years old and still can walk way good and can read and work.  He's awesome!

That's all I got for this week. Keep reading the Book of Mormon so you all can finish it before the new year. I got off on a late start so I'm reading like 20 pages a day... good luck!!

Love you all!!
