Week 29 in Chihuahua - Month 8 - June 25, 2018

Wow the time is really flying hahha I can't really believe it.

Today has been way fun. We woke up at 5 to go play bball at an indoor gym........ an indoor gym ladies and gentlemen....... I felt like I was in heaven! We played for like 4 hours.

Then afterwards we went bowling. Today was acutally way fun but I'm super tired!

We are kinda hitting a rough patch in the area right now. We are finding people that accept us but they just don't wanna make sacrifices to go to church but its all good because we are changing from 830 to 11 so that should help us haha.

I was thinking the other day about what stuff I have learned so far through all my experiences. I'd say number one is patience. With the spanish and the climate and the house I have right now I have definitely developed more patience than I had before.

Second would be the power of service. Honestly serving others brings so much joy to the  heart than any other thing in this world. After the sisters give us food I love getting up to wash the dishes even when they tell me no! It's funny, they are like no no its all good you don't have to wash them and I'm like ooooh hahha ok and then I get up and just start washing them and they don't know what to say.

That's all I got for this week!

I invite everyone to serve somone this week in some way whether it be big or small and I promise you will be blessed and be happier!

Love you all stay strong! Mosiah 2:17

Week 28 in Chihuahua - June 18, 2018 - No Basketball because of Zumba!

YO YO whats up people?!?!

Today has been a good day. We woke up at 5:20 to go play some bball with the zone but then randomly a bunch of old ladies showed up and started doing like zumba or some dance thing right in the middle of the court without saying anything to us. haha

I actually was pretty mad that I woke up at 5:20 on a pday to play bball just to get bullied by a bunch of old ladies hahah.  I really just wanted to keep playing inbetween them until they got the point that we were still gonna play, but now that I'm a missionary I figured that might start problems and look bad so we chose to leave.   My companion is great.  He is from the Dominican Republic, loves basketball and is way nice.

This week has been good we found some really cool families. We were teaching this one dude and he was super cool and I felt the impression that I should challenge him to get baptized. We had just barely met him like 5 minutes ago but I decided to go for it. He accepted and I started talking about how Christs loves us and what he did for us when he came to the earth and he started crying and told us that he was going to church and was super excited.

So I was super pumped about him and his family but they didn't go to church. It is really hard to bring people to church here. If you don't have a car you have to either take 2 buses and that takes like an hour and 15 min or one bus and walk for 30 min which takes like an hour hahah and church starts at 8:30 so I really think the people want to progress I just think that their motivation dies in the morning when they have to wake up at 6:30 to get there at 8:30 but I still have faith in this area!!

When we were walking to church the other day some dude that was like half crazy was telling us all this stuff and how people wanna kidnap his neighbor but that his other neighbor wants to kill him and he needed our help. Really I did not understand too much and neither did my comp  but he asked us if he could come to church with us and we were like ok. But as we were walking I was thinking that it would be really bad if who ever was looking for him showed up at the church and started shooting the place up so I talked to my comp for a sec and he thought we would we be ok but I went up to the guy and I asked him if we were gonna put the members of the church in danger and he was like no I don't think so we are all good, but I still didn't know so I said a prayer asking if I should tell this guy if he could come with us or not. I felt calmer afterwards so I figured it would all be good. And he came to church and nothing happened. He was like about to throw up during all of church doing this weird gaging thing but never threw up so it was a pretty strange situation.

I love you all!!!! Remember that God wants you to talk to him in prayer every day so we can have his help always!!! ALMA 37:37

Week 27 in Chihuahua - New Companion

Helllooo everyone.

Life is good. So I just barely met my new companion and he is awesome. His name is Elder Lopez and he is from the Dominican Republic. He loves bball!!! This is my first companion that prefers basketball over soccer hahaha I love it.

I was with Elder Serrano for a week and that was fun. There has  been so many changes lately! I have been driving back and forth to where the mission president is and then back to my area a bunch of times and it will be nice to just stay in one area for a while.

A cool story from is this week is that we have a kid that we are teaching and he is way awesome. His name is Diego and his family is a little less active but Diego isn't a member so we have been teaching him. His parents are separated and so his dad is Mormon and his mom is a Jehova's Witness. Diego's mom doesn't want him to get baptized.

Anyway we went to their house to teach Diego and the dad and the mom were both there and I remember thinking like ohhh no this is going to be awkward haha so we taught Diego and we asked him how he felt about his baptism. He said, "well I have permission from my dad but not from my mom and then he asked his mom if she would give him permission and she said ummm I don't know. then Diego said, "well either way I'm gonna get baptized hahhaa. It was awesome.. in my head I was screammming " YEAH DIEGO U TELL HER HOW IT IS" she didn't really say anything after haha. but that was a cool experiance for the week.

I definitely wouldn't trade a mission experience for anything because I'm learning so much and helping a lot of people.  I honestly feel like I see the world a little different now.  There are hard days where I think, ugg, I wish I was with my family, but there are times when I'm in a lesson and the Spirit is sooooo strong and I honestly wouldn't want to be doing anything else but teaching that lesion if you get what I mean.

Anyways I love you allll!!! Here are some scriptures that I absolutey love! ALMA chapter 36 verses 20 21.

Week 26 in Chihuahua - Off Line For a Couple of Weeks

(Jacob wasn't able to email for a couple of weeks).

Wow, okay so a lot of things have happened since the last time I wrote!

I got a new companion but he is having surgery so he is going home to Guatemala.  So I'm going to work with an assistant with the President for a week.  Then I will get another companion.  I am now a district leader which means I take care of my district, turn in all of the information from our district to our Zone Leaders and teach my district every Tuesday.

We found 4 more black widows in our backyard and killed 3 of them, but one got away.  We have to move the house. haha  So that is basically what has happened over the past couple of weeks.

It is has been kind of stressful with going to the hospital with my companion so that they can do studies on him and stuff and looking for a new house and sleeping in fear that I'll be eaten by a black widow...haha.

But all is good.  I'll try to get some pictures for you next week since I hardly ever send them.

But everyone take care!

Love,

Elder Lignell
